Goa - The Pearl of the East
Goa is India’s most evolved beach destination. For decades travelers have been coming here from across the world for the perfect beach vacation. It is the smallest Indian state, but boasts of a 131km long coastline along the Arabian Sea.
Goa is a place where you can discover a new beach everyday - and there is a wide variety of them - Colva, Betul, Dona Paula, Calangute, Miramar, Baga, Anjuna, Bogmalo and Vagator to name the more famous - all fringed with palms and stretching out into the horizon. Besides the beaches, the other of Goa that makes it such an attractive destination is the warm and cheerful hospitality of its people.
Goa is geographically divided into the North and South districts. The small and charming state capital, Panaji, lies on the southern bank of the Mandovi River in North Goa. Formerly a Portuguese Colony, a lot of its heritage still survives in the oldest part of the town - Fontainhas and Sao Tome, with old villas with wrought iron balconies looking down upon narrow cobbled streets and white washed churches in village squares.
Goa is connected by air from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram. Train to Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi also connects Goa.
